Looking around my favorite sites, found the reported casting. Aang will be played by an unseen karate star, Noah Ringer apparently from the Texas casting call.
Sokka may be played by Twilight's Jackson Rathborne.
Katara will be played by Deck the Halls' Nicola Peltz.
And the punchline? Jesse McCartney may be playing Zuko.
The movie is slated to be released in July 2010. Somehow I see Dragonball Evolution happening all over again.

...Ummmm, if you look on IMDb you would see that Jesse is not playing any part in it... It's really Dev Patel. Who in which played the lead role in Slumdog Millionaire...
Jesse was supposed to play a part, but he stepped out for whatever reason. Besides, the casting people were getting a lot of flack b/c they were casting a lot of caucasians and i think that casting Dev was one of their solutions. I think I read that Jesse still got paid some money though
Avatar was not an anime. It was made in the USA. Anime comes from Japan. Most of the Asian influence in the show came from either Chinese or Indian culture. Avatar was a cartoon. Not a big deal, just thought I would point that out.

I think I'm going to cry with laughter...Live Action Avatar Movie? Jesse McCartney? Not using caucasion actors for characters that are clearly asain? Racist much? Why are movie makers so fucked up? This will be another Dragonball embarassment.
What the F****!!!! It is Asian Fictional show and all the roles are going to be play by WHITE PPL AGAIN?? Something is wrong with Holywood Directors' mentalities, there are a lot of Asian actors and actress and none were in it again. I hope it will be a flop like Dragonball!!!
